Enneapterygius sheni Chiang & Chen 2008

This species is distinguished from its congeners in having the following characters: D1 III, D2 XII, D3 9; A I,17; lateral line discontinuous, first series with 16-18 pored scales, second series 16-18 notched scales; mandibular pore system 4+1+4; supraorbital cirrus simple and broad; nasal cirrus simple and slender; first dorsal fin is equal to or higher than second; in males, head with a black mask, D1 and D2 and anal fins are entirely blackish; D2 with 4 black blotches and anal fin with 8-9 basal blackish-brown streaks in female; grayish-black opercle; caudal peduncle with a black streak (Ref. 79877).

Female members of the Tripterygiidae have eggs that are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).

分布於西太平洋區。臺灣分布於南部。

小型魚類，僅具學術研究價值。

體形小，圓柱狀。上頜向後延伸至瞳孔前緣下方；雄魚吻部長於雌魚；齒小，上下頜具椎形齒；鋤骨及腭骨前端具齒群。眼眶上緣觸角寬大不分叉。鼻瓣膜細長不分叉。頤部感覺孔 4 + 1 + 4。頭部、腹部、胸部及胸鰭基部無鱗。體櫛鱗。側線不連續，分為前後二段，前段側線為孔鱗16-18個，孔鱗側線從胸鰭基後方即稍下降，末端延伸至第二背鰭最後1鰭膜處；後段側線具1列缺刻鱗16-18個，末端止於尾柄。側線上鱗列 3 + 1 + 6-7。D. I + 17； P. ii-iii + 4-6 + vii (12-14)；L.l. 33-34；Vert. 10 + 24。背鰭分三鰭，第一背鰭長度等於或超過第二背鰭；臀鰭起始於第二背鰭第八鰭條 (或側線第六至第七孔鱗下方)；胸鰭大，末端達第二背鰭末端。體棕色，雄魚頭部下半部3/4處黑色，體紅色具黑色不規則斑，鱗片邊緣具黑色素斑，第一及第二背鰭灰色或黑色，第三背鰭具灰色斜紋，其餘鰭部紅色或黃棕色，尾柄具1黑色橫斑；雌魚頭部顏色淡，頭腹側白色，胸鰭基部下半部黑色素斑密集分布，眼眶下至下頜具1棕色條紋，眼下另具1橫帶，體橙色具不規則橙色或棕色斑塊，尾柄具棕色或黑色橫紋，第二背鰭具4棕色斑塊，第三背鰭具灰色斜紋，臀鰭具8-9黑棕色條紋，腹鰭白色，胸鰭及尾鰭紅色。(李承運、林沛立2012/11編寫)

主要棲息於亞潮帶3-12m。以藻類為食。

Enneapterygius sheni is a species of triplefin blenny in the genus Enneapterygius. It was described by Chiang Min-Chia and Chen I-Shiung in 2008.
