Inhabits lagoon and seaward reefs from below the surge zone to 30 m depth (Ref. 9710). Feeds on skin, scales, fins and mucus of other fish. Scale-eating behavior was suggested to originate from opportunistic foraging on other fishes (Ref. 28733).

Biology

Adults are found solitary in coastal, lagoon and seaward reefs from below the surge zone to 30 m depth (Ref. 9710, 90102). They feed on skin, scales, fins and mucus of other fish. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114). A mimic of Meiacanthus atrodorsalis (Ref. 2334).

體色多變,一般為體前半部灰藍色,後半部黃色或淡色;體側無縱紋;背、臀和尾鰭黃色,背鰭硬棘部具一黑色縱帶。
棲地

主要棲息於潟湖或珊瑚礁向海面,深度範圍從1公尺到30公尺。發現有危險時,會躲在管蟲類遺留下來的空殼中,以躲避敵害。具擬態行為,模擬「魚醫生」以便趁其它魚不注意時,偷襲並咬下其身上的皮膚和黏液腺,甚至是鱗片。

Plagiotremus laudandus, the bicolour fangblenny, false harptail-blenny, poison-fang blenny mimic, yellow-tailed blenny or the yellowtail fangblenny mimic, is a species of combtooth blenny found in coral reefs in the western Pacific ocean. This species reaches a length of 8 centimetres (3.1 in) TL. This species is a Batesian mimic of Meiacanthus atrodorsalis.
