體呈長橢圓形而側扁,標準體長為體高之2.5-2.6倍。吻短而鈍圓。口中型;頜齒兩列,小而呈圓錐狀。眶下骨裸出,下緣平滑,眶前骨與眶下骨間無缺刻;前鰓蓋骨後緣具鋸齒。體被櫛鱗;鼻部具鱗;側線之有孔鱗片17-18個。背鰭單一,軟條部不延長而略呈尖形,硬棘XIII,軟條13-15;臀鰭硬棘II,軟條14-15;胸鰭鰭條17-18;尾鰭叉形,上下葉末端呈尖狀。體色多變,生活時體背豔藍色,腹面、臀鰭、尾柄及尾鰭鮮黃色;受驚嚇時體色暗淡或灰白;死後體呈暗褐色。
棲地

Die Neon-Demoiselle (Pomacentrus coelestis) ist ein kleiner Riffbarsch aus den Korallenriffen des Indopazifik. Ihr Verbreitungsgebiet umfasst Sri Lanka und die Andamanensee, die Cocos-Keeling-Inseln, die Weihnachtsinsel, den indo-australischen Archipel und den westlichen Pazifik von Südjapan bis zum Tuamotu-Archipel. Sie ist sehr bodengebunden und bewohnt vor allem Außenriffe mit starker Strömung und Wellengang.
Die Neon-Demoiselle ist nahe mit Pomacentrus auriventris und Pomacentrus similis verwandt und bildet mit diesen Arten einen Artenkomplex, der „Blaue Demoisellen“ genannt wird.
Merkmale
Neon-Demoisellen bilden unterschiedlich gefärbte Lokalformen. Allen gemeinsam ist die leuchtend blaue Grundfarbe. Die Schwanzflosse, die Afterflosse und/oder der Bauch können bei einigen Populationen gelb sein. Die Population in der Andamanensee und bei Sri Lanka ist besonders dunkelblau. Ihr fehlen die gelben Farben der Flossen und des Bauches. Die Fische werden maximal sieben Zentimeter lang. Die Körperhöhe beträgt 2,5 bis 2,6 Zentimeter. Entlang des Seitenlinienorgans haben sie 17 bis 18 Schuppen. Die Anzahl der Kiemenreusenfortsätze beträgt 20 bis 22.

Fortpflanzung
Wie alle Riffbarsche sind Neon-Demoisellen Substratlaicher. Die Larven schlüpfen nach drei bis vier Tagen und leben einige Wochen pelagisch, um danach zum riffgebundenen Leben der ausgewachsenen Fische zu wechseln.

Distribution and habitat
This fish is found in the Indo-Pacific. In the Indian Ocean, they are found in Sri Lanka, the Andaman Sea, Indonesia, and Australia. In the Pacific Ocean, they are found in Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and Pacific islands all the way to Hawaii.[1] They are found in depths of 1 to 20 metres (3.3 to 65.6 ft).[1] Adults are found in coral reefs and lagoons.
Description
Adults can grow to a maximum size of 9 centimetres (3.5 in).[1] They have 13 dorsal spines, 13 to 15 dorsal soft rays, 2 anal spines, and 14 to 15 anal soft rays.[1] This fish is blue.

Diet
This fish feeds on zooplankton and benthic algae.[1]
Behavior
Juveniles school above soft corals while adults are found in small of large aggregations over their favorite parts of the reef.[1]

ソラスズメダイ(学名:Pomacentrus coelestis)は、スズキ目・スズメダイ科に分類される魚の一種。別名「ソラスズメ」、「コバルトスズメ」[1]。
体長は7-8cm。体色は、前上部が青色で、後下部が黄色となる(ただし、黄色の範囲や色の濃淡には個体差がある)[2]。背びれは13棘14-15軟条、しりびれは2棘14-15軟条[2]。
沿岸の岩礁やサンゴ礁に生息する。5-9月に岩の割れ目などに産卵する。
海中を漂うプランクトンをついばむほか、底質面に生育する藻類を噛みとって食物とする。胃の内容物の分析によれば、カイアシ類に属する動物プランクトンと底生藻類とが主な餌となっており、特に後者の比率が高いとされている。なお、潜水による食餌行動の観察や水槽内における飼育実験の結果から、底質面からちぎりとられて水中を浮遊する藻類の断片は、ついばむことはあっても飲み込むことはなく、餌としてはほとんど利用しないという[3]。
千葉県・新潟県以南、琉球列島、朝鮮半島、太平洋の西部に分布する[2]。
