Description: Overall bluish grey, body scales streaks bluish, head lines/spots blue (Ref. 90102). Juveniles are a brilliant blue, but lighter in coloration and not as spectacular as C. cyaneus, becoming dull bluish grey with growth (Ref. 1602).

體呈橢圓形而側扁,標準體長為體高之2.1-2.3倍。眼中大,上側位。口小,上頜骨末端僅及眼前緣。眶下骨裸出;前鰓蓋骨後緣平滑。頰部有鱗3列。體被櫛鱗;側線之有孔鱗片16-19個。鰓耙數21-24。背鰭單一,軟條部不延長而呈角形,硬棘XIII,軟條12-14;臀鰭硬棘II,軟條12-13;胸鰭鰭條16-18;尾鰭內凹形,上下葉末端呈圓形。稚魚一致呈淡藍色,隨著成長而變成暗藍灰色。
棲地

主要棲息沿岸碎石區、暴露在潮間帶的礁石平臺及在沙地上堅硬的岩礁區,僅能承受溫和的湧浪;
也被發現有淡水溢流的附近海域。成一小群活動。以底部的藻類為食。
