Grey Demoiselle

Description: Overall bluish grey, body scales streaks bluish, head lines/spots blue (Ref. 90102). Juveniles are a brilliant blue, but lighter in coloration and not as spectacular as C. cyaneus, becoming dull bluish grey with growth (Ref. 1602).

廣泛分布於印度-太平洋區，西起東非，東至萊恩群島及皮特凱恩群島，北至日本，南至澳洲。台灣各沿岸礁區可見。

中小型之雀鯛，可食用，一般不為漁獲對象魚。有人將其作觀賞魚之用。

體呈橢圓形而側扁，標準體長為體高之2.1-2.3倍。眼中大，上側位。口小，上頜骨末端僅及眼前緣。眶下骨裸出；前鰓蓋骨後緣平滑。頰部有鱗3列。體被櫛鱗；側線之有孔鱗片16-19個。鰓耙數21-24。背鰭單一，軟條部不延長而呈角形，硬棘XIII，軟條12-14；臀鰭硬棘II，軟條12-13；胸鰭鰭條16-18；尾鰭內凹形，上下葉末端呈圓形。稚魚一致呈淡藍色，隨著成長而變成暗藍灰色。

主要棲息沿岸碎石區、暴露在潮間帶的礁石平臺及在沙地上堅硬的岩礁區，僅能承受溫和的湧浪； 也被發現有淡水溢流的附近海域。成一小群活動。以底部的藻類為食。
