Two Spot Razorfish

Common in shallow waters, found in bare sand and rock, grass and algae-covered bottoms and coral reefs (Refs. 122743, 122744). Rare in muddy areas (Refs. 122743, 122744) and deep lagoons (Refs. 122743). Active only during day time, burrows in the sand and sleeps in rock or coral shelters at night (Ref. 122744).

Probably inhabits open sandy bottoms and dives head-first into the sand with the approach of danger (Ref. 5374). Dives into sand to sleep safely at night or to hide when alarmed (Ref. 90102).

Iniistius bimaculatus, the two-spot razorfish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish from the family Labridae, the wrasses. It is found in the Indo-West Pacific, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, and off the coasts of India.

This species reaches a length of 28.5 cm (11.2 in).
