描述

體長型,側扁;頭尖,吻長;背鰭前方頭部輪廓稍凸。眼大,上位。上下頜各二列齒。前鰓蓋骨緣裸露;背鰭基與臀鰭基鱗鞘發達。D. XII, 10;A. III, 11-12;P. 17-18;L.l. 33-35;G.R. 3-6+8-10;尾鰭截平;腹鰭圓形。體紅色,腹部黃紅色;體側具許多紅色縱紋及數列暗紅或黑色斑;背鰭硬棘中央有黑斑,背鰭與側線間有數個淡色斑;各鰭均為紅黃色。

棲地

主要棲息於亞熱帶、熱帶溫暖的珊瑚礁海域,深度大約在30-60公尺之間,屬於常見的魚種。它生性非常凶猛,以小魚、小蝦、小螃蟹等為食。
