體亞圓筒形,稍側扁,體前部粗圓,向後漸細,尾柄長圓錐狀。眼眶間隔大於吻長。鼻孔小,每側2個,鼻瓣呈卵圓形突起。體腹側下緣有一縱行皮褶。體背自鼻孔後方至背鰭起點、腹面自眼前緣下方至肛門前方以及側面在鰓孔前方和胸鰭基底稍後方均被小棘。鰓孔內側淡色。背鰭近似鐮刀形,位於體後部,具軟條17-18;臀鰭與其同形且相對,具軟條14-15;無腹鰭;胸鰭寬短,近方形;尾鰭寬大,截形或近圓形。體背部為黃褐色,腹面乳白色;體背具許多白色小圓點;體側具十餘條白色鞍狀斑;縱行皮褶黃色。各鰭黃色;背、尾鰭較深。
