體呈長橢圓形；兩眼均位右側；背緣於上眼上方淺凹陷。吻短尖。眼間隔頗窄。口大，傾斜；上頜至少為頭長之1/3；上頜齒兩列，齒尖銳，前方具犬齒，下頜齒一列；鋤骨與腭骨無齒。鰓膜與峽部分離。鱗小，眼側被弱櫛鱗，盲側被圓鱗，背、臀鰭鰭條被鱗；兩側側線均發達，鱗數88-98。背鰭起始於上眼前，軟條數87-93；臀鰭基在胸鰭基後緣下方，軟條數69-74；兩側均具胸鰭，中央軟條分支，眼側者較盲側長；尾鰭楔形。
體呈淡黃褐色，散在許多大小不一的暗色環紋，最大之環紋於眼側側線上下各有3個，奇鰭具暗色小點；盲側灰白色。
棲地

主要棲息於溫冷且較深的海域。底棲性，大里身海底的時候，有如枯葉般，不容易被發現。以波浪運動來游泳。主要以底棲性的無脊椎動物為食。

It is a demersal fish that lives on sandy mud bottoms in the sublittoral zone at depths of between 60 metres (200 ft) and 1,325 metres (4,347 ft). It can reach 60 centimetres (24 in) in length. Its native habitat is the Western Pacific, stretching from the Pacific coast of Japan in the north, through the east coast of Korea, down the coast of China and the Yellow Sea, as far as Taiwan in the south.[1]
