Barred Pipefish

Male carries the eggs in a brood pouch (Ref. 205).

Usually found among vegetation in bays and estuaries, occasionally among floating Sargassum sp. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).

The barred pipefish (Syngnathus auliscus) is a species of the pipefishes, widespread in the eastern pacific from the Southern California, United States, to northern Peru. Marine / brackishwater subtropical demersal fish, up to 18.0 cm length.
