Epipelagic and neritic, usually at surface in warm coastal waters (Ref. 33606). May leap out of the water and glide for considerable distances above the surface. Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36606). Eggs are attached to floating objects via long filaments (Ref. 36606).

Fodiator rostratus is a species of flying fish in the genus Fodiator. It reaches a maximum length of 19 cm (7.4 in) and is endemic to the eastern Pacific Ocean from Baja California in the Gulf of California to Peru, including Clipperton Island and the Galapagos Islands.[3]
