體型延長，側扁。鼻吻部短而圓鈍。下頜骨有大而明顯之側線孔一列。口小，下位；齒細小，下頜齒為一窄齒帶。體被弱櫛鱗，鱗棘短小，呈平行排列。背鰭第II硬棘前緣鋸齒狀；第一背鰭基底起點與臀鰭起點一致；腹鰭軟條數10-12。吻部邊緣及鼻中脊無黑色邊緣；第一背鰭中段有黑斑。腹錐10-11。
棲地

主要棲息於247-717公尺深泥砂底質、水溫5-7℃的水域。深海底棲性魚類，以小型之多毛類、甲殼類及明蝦為主食，數量不多。
