Spearnose Grenadier

The head moderately large; the eyes also large; the snout pointed; head ridges not excessively spiny or coarsely developed. Grayish brown overall with vermiculations or mottling on the nape, back and upper sides; the mouth whitish; the gill cavity blackish; the fins dusky.

分布於西北太平洋區，由日本南方、中國東海外緣、臺灣東北部及南部等海域。

個體較大型，軀幹部份可食。小型個體則作為下雜魚。

體型延長，側扁。鼻骨前側邊緣不完全被骨支托；鼻窩裸出。吻部腹面裸出有些許小黑點分布。前鰓蓋骨腹側無鱗。發光器呈長桿狀，自肛門起點沿伸至喉峽部。體被弱櫛鱗，棘刺細短，多列密集且不規則排列。體側散佈有許多明顯的雲狀斑紋；口腔白色；鰓腔及各鰭暗色。

主要棲息於146-300公尺深泥砂底質、水溫5-7℃的水域。深海底棲性魚類，以小型之多毛類、甲殼類及明蝦為主食。
