Ventrifossa longibarbata Okamura 1982

Mouth inferior, lower jaw tipped with a long barbel, relatively small body scales, and spineless scales behind 1st dorsal fin. Head comparatively small; snout short and broad, angulated along anterolateral edge; tip of snout without spinulous tubercle. Teeth conical, with band on both jaws. Second dorsal spine finely serrated except for basal portion. Spinules on body scales slender, not triangular in shape, arranged in quincunx order. Luminous organ small, between pelvic bases. Sides of head and body bright silvery. First dorsal fin blackish, with white base and tip (Ref. 54421).

分布於西北太平洋區，由日本南方至臺灣東北部海域。

通常以底拖網捕獲，數量多，為常見的種類，無經濟價值，多作為下雜魚用。

體型延長，側扁。頭部中大型。口大，下位，頦部有一長鬚；上、下頜齒為錐狀，多列排成寬齒帶，內側齒不特別大於外側齒。鰓被架 7；鰓耙數0+9-13。體被小型櫛鱗，鱗片上佈滿向後突起之三角形弱棘；第一背鰭基底後方具無棘鱗區；第一背鰭中部至側線之鱗列數9-10。肛門離臀鰭稍遠，發光器短小，位於兩腹鰭基底之間，約略分為兩部份，前端為黑色小圓斑，後端為黑色裸露之無發光區域，其上有肛門及尿殖孔。第一背鰭具硬棘II，第II硬棘前緣呈鋸齒狀，軟條10；腹鰭軟條8。體色為銀灰色，胸鰭及腹鰭黑色，第一背鰭上有一不明顯之黑色斑駁。

主要棲息於水深350-700公尺砂泥底水域。屬深海底棲性魚。肉食性魚類，以小型蝦、蟹為主食。

Ventrifossa longibarbata is a species of rattail. This is a deep-water fish found at depths of up to 600 m. It is found in the waters off southern Japan and northern Taiwan.

This is a largely bright silver rattail which reaches a length of up to 30 cm. It has a small head with a short, broad snout, an inferior mouth and a long barbel on the lower jaw. The first dorsal fin is black with white base and tip. There is a small bioluminescent organ located between the bases of the pelvic fins.
