Snout short, blunt; terminal and lateral scutes large, blunt; undersides of snout, mandible, most of the suborbital, and part of the lower margin of the preopercle naked. Body scales with sharp, slender spinules in 4 to 16 parallel rows. Pyloric caeca 25 to 28. Overall color is brown; abdomen bluish; gill membranes blackish; fins dusky, first dorsal fin blackish distally; oral and branchial linings blackish.

描述

體型延長,側扁。頭部中小。眼大,眼眶下骨有一排明顯之特化強棘鱗。吻短圓錐形,吻端有三個凸起的小節結,吻部腹面裸露無鱗,其上佈滿凸出的小孔。口小,下位;齒呈錐狀,多列排成齒帶,上頜齒外列擴大。頤部有一短鬚。第一背鰭之硬棘有鋸齒。體被櫛鱗,棘弱,鱗片有網狀結構。發光器圓形短小,分為前後兩部份,前端為一黑色圓形小窩在兩腹鰭基底之間,後端為一黑色裸出區域包圍著肛門與泌尿生殖孔,此黑色區域稱為「圍肛板」(periproct) 。體呈淡棕色。

The Japanese pugnose grenadier (Nezumia condylura) is a species of rattail fish. It is found at depths of up to 720 m (2362 ft) in the waters around southern Japan, northern Taiwan and in the East China Sea.[1][2]

As the common name suggests, this fish has a very short, blunt snout. It is greyish-brown overall but with a bluish tinge on the abdomen. The margins of the mouth and gills are blackish and the fins are dark. The first dorsal fin has blackish margins and has two spines.
