serial photophores few, 11–14 in lateral row (OA), of which 6–8 behind pelvic insertion (VAL); 25–29 photophores in ventral row to tail (IC); ventral row curving slightly between pectoral fin bases. Barbel less than 1.5 times head length, its tip expanded to form thin flaps or with a moderately long swollen tip, either with a longitudinal crease or with thin lateral flaps. Dorsal-fin rays 11–17, usually 13–16. Color of head and body black; pale patches of luminous tissue in larger specimens on upper and lower gill cover, a pair on each side (one above the other) over pelvic fin. sometimes others

Diagnostic Description

Body black in color (Ref. 3982). Relatively large luminous patches on operculum and interoperculum, and along ventral margin of lower jaw; its color pink when fresh, whitish preserved (Ref. 559). Serial photopores few and widely spaced (Ref. 559). Body moderately elongate and slender. Chin barbel long and slender, tip expanded in form of thin flaps or swollen bulb. Maxillary teeth are comblike (Ref. 37039).

最後一個OA發光器位於最後VAV發光器之前方;腹部縱列發光器IP至PV之間呈直線排列;較大體型之鰓蓋及間鰓蓋上形成塊斑狀發光組織;下頷鬚長度小於頭長,末端略膨大具葉脈狀紋路。體色:身體深褐色,新鮮標本之發光組織呈粉紅色,浸泡標本呈乳白色;下頷鬚白色,基部及末端膨大處呈黑色。
