Alosa sapidissima (American Shad) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family herrings. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Atlantic Ocean and The Nearctic. They are diurnal carnivores. Individuals can grow to 76 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on swimming to move around.
