體延長而呈圓柱狀，尾部延長側扁；頭和軀幹長於尾部長。上、下頜頜齒及鋤骨齒單列；頜間大尖牙2-4顆。體表為單純的褐色、淡褐色或朱褐色；眼虹彩黃色；前鼻管的尖端黑色；口內皮膚橘黃色；鰭緣略具白色邊緣。過去部份分類文獻曾將白邊裸胸鯙、裂吻勾吻鯙等誤鑑為肝色裸胸鯙。白邊裸胸鯙的上、下頜孔具有白斑，尾長明顯小於頭長加軀幹長；裂吻勾吻鯙的上、下頜比較尖長且強烈呈彎勾狀，這些不同的特徵都可與肝色裸胸鯙作區分。〔登錄標本〕ASIZP
