Description of Ortholineidae

provided by BioPedia
Bivalvulid myxospora, two divergent polar capsules in plane of suture, set wide apart; trophozoites mono- to polysporous; coelozoic and histozoic in marine and freshwater fishes. The genera in this family are very similar, and many characteristics overlap. Neomyxobolus is differentiated from Ortholinea only on the environments of their host, and Neomyxobolus is differentiated from Triangula only because the latter is histozoic.
