Distribution

Cosmopolitan species, occurs from the Arctic to the Antarctic. This species is most likely an expatriate species from Atlantic to the Arctic Ocean Basins, because the reproduction is not assumed in polar waters (Kosobokova & al. (2010))

Morphology

Female: The genital swelling is located on the anterior part of the genital segment. The serrations of the basal segments of A1 are small and low. P5 is four-segmented and carries 3 terminal setae, of which the innermost is the longest. Black organ is usually on the right side. Very rarely exhibit dimorphic asymmetry (Ferrari, 1984).

Male: The abdomen is almost symmetrical. Left A1 is geniculate. The second segment of the exopodite of P5 with a long thin process. Black organ is usually on the right side.
