Modiolus modiolus (Northern Horse Mussel) is a species of mussels in the family Marine Mussels. Adult Northern Horse Mussel form marine reefs. Dead Northern Horse Mussel form shallow marine sediments. They are surficial modifiers. Individuals can grow to 360 mm. They have sexual reproduction. They are facultatively mobile animals.
