The crested finchbill (Spizixos canifrons) is a species of songbird in the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae. It is found in south-eastern Asia from China and India to Indochina.

Taxonomy

The crested finchbill was formally described in 1845 by the English zoologist Edward Blyth under the binomial name Spizixos canifrons. He specified the type locality as Cherrapunji in the Indian state of Meghalaya of northeast India.^[2] The specific epithet combines the Latin canus meaning "grey" with frons meaning "forehead".^[3]

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized:^[4]

• S. c. canifrons Blyth, 1845 – Found in north-eastern India and western Myanmar
• S. c. ingrami Bangs & Phillips, JC, 1914 – Found in eastern Myanmar, southern China and northern Indochina

Tofsfinkbulbyl^[2] (Spizixos canifrons) är en asiatisk fågel i familjen bulbyler inom ordningen tättingar.^[3]

Kännetecken

Utseende

Tofsfinkbulbylen är en 22 centimeter lång bulbyl med en toppig tofs på huvudet och en kraftig, blek näbb. Den är i stort olivfärgad med svartaktigt huvud och strupe, grå örontäckare och svart ändband på stjärten. Ungfågeln har brunsvart hjässa och blekbruna örontäckare.^[4]

Läte

Tofsfinkbulbylens sång är en torr och bubblande drill: purr-purr-prruit-prruit-prruit.^[5]

Utbredning och systematik

Tofsfinkbulbyl förekommer från nordöstra Indien till norra Indokina. Den delas in i två underarter med följande utbredning:^[3]

• Spizixos canifrons canifrons – förekommer i södra Assam (söder om Brahmaputra) och i västra Burma
• Spizixos canifrons ingrami – förekommer i östra Burma, sydvästra Kina (Yunnan), nordvästra Thailand och norra Indokina

Levnadssätt

Tofsfinkbulbylen förekommer i öppen städesgrön eller lövfällande skog, bergsbelägna snårbuskmarker och gräsområden. Den lever av frön, bönor, ärter och olika sorters frukt, men även insekter. Fågeln häckar mellan mars och juli, tydligen kooperativt även om dokumentationen är bristfällig.^[5]

Status och hot

Arten har ett stort utbredningsområde och en stor population, och tros öka i antal till följd av svedjebruk.^[1] Utifrån dessa kriterier kategoriserar IUCN arten som livskraftig (LC).^[1] Världspopulationen har inte uppskattats, men den beskrivs som ganska vanlig i Myanmars högländer och norra Thailand, men fåtalig i Kina.^[6]

凤头雀嘴鹎（学名：Spizixos canifrons）为鹎科雀嘴鹎属的鸟类，俗名印度圆嘴布鲁布鲁、凤头鹦嘴鹎。分布于印度、孟加拉、缅甸、老挝、泰国、越南以及中国大陆的四川、云南等地，多见于海拔1200-2800米左右的山地阔叶林、次生稀树灌丛、草地稀树灌丛、沟谷林以及有时也见于寨边田园间。该物种的模式产地在印度阿萨姆卡因Khasi山脉和贾因提亚Jaintia山脉。^[2]
