Ceryle rudis (Pied Kingfisher) is a species of birds in the family Alcedinidae. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to the Palearctic, Ethiopia, and Asia. They are solitary, diurnal carnivores. They have parental care (female provides care, paternal care, and cooperative breeding). They rely on flight and gliding to move around.
