Estrilda astrild (Common Waxbill) is a species of birds in the family estrildid finches. They are native to Somalia, Botswana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi, Swaziland, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda, Malawi, Angola, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Lesotho, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sao Tome And Principe Exclusive Economic Zone, Mozambique, Gabon, Liberia, Sudan, Côte d’Ivoire, Central African Republic, Zambia, Democratic Republic Of The Congo, Namibia, Cameroon, Ghana, and Guinea. They are solitary, diurnal herbivores. They have parental care (female provides care and paternal care). They rely on flight to move around.
