One of three raised in this hollow on the Mooloort Plains, Central Vic. The other two have just ventured from the nest. This one seems to be stretching in preparation for the big step out.
An interesting historic illustration from the voluminous Pacific Railroad Surveys (1850's). These, and the similar Mexican Boundary Survey publications have a number of hand-colored lithographs of birds. The artists and lithographers were not credited, but the zoological works were produced under the editorship of Spencer Fullerton Baird.
