Micrathene whitneyi (Elf Owl) is a species of birds in the family typical owls. They are listed in cites appendix ii. They are native to The Nearctic. They are nocturnal carnivores. Definition: Appendix II lists species that are not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled.
