Grus americana (Whooping Crane) is a species of Aves in the family Gruidae. They are listed as endangered by IUCN, as endangered by COSEWIC, and in cites appendix i. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to The Nearctic and United States. They are solitary, diurnal omnivores. They have parental care (female provides care, pair provides care, and paternal care). They rely on gliding and flight to move around.
