The holotype (USNM 34416) of this species was collected from South of Montijo Bay, Cebaco Island (Centroid Latitude: 7.1583, Centroid Longitude: -81.1417), Panama, eastern Pacific, North Pacific Ocean, by the R. V. Albatross from a depth of 999 m.
