Three of the syntypes of this species (USNM 34326, USNM 34327, USNM 34328) were collected from Punta Mala (Centroid Latitude: 7.2792, Centroid Longitude: -79.9417), southeast of Azuero Peninsula, eastern Pacific, by the R. V. Albatross, from a depth range of 232 to 2136 m
