Colonies are hemispherical or short thick columns. Calices are 3-5 mm in diameter. Columellae are small. Living colonies have very large polyps. Colour: usually brown, yellow or green. Abundance: common, forms large monospecific stands, especially in turbid water. (Veron, 1986 )
