Die Graue Stachelmaus (Acomys cineraceus) ist ein Nagetier in der Familie der Langschwanzmäuse, das im Nordosten Afrikas vorkommt.[1]
Wie bei den anderen Stachelmäusen sind in das Fell der Oberseite einige grobe Borsten oder Stacheln eingemischt. Trotz des deutschen Namens ist nur der Rücken dunkelgrau, während an den Flanken rotbraune bis zimtbraune Haare dominieren. Die Unterseite ist mit weißem Fell bedeckt. Die Graue Stachelmaus hat unter jedem Auge sowie hinter jedem Ohr einen kleinen weißen Fleck. Weiterhin ist der Schwanz in eine dunkle Oberseite und eine weiße Unterseite aufgeteilt. Auf ihm kommen kurze steife Haare vor.[2]
Die Art erreicht eine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von 89 bis 116 mm, eine Schwanzlänge von 72 bis 121 mm sowie ein Gewicht von 26 bis 61 g. Die Länge der Ohren beträgt 13 bis 18 mm und die Hinterfüße sind 13 bis 19 mm lang.[2]
Das in mehrere Populationen aufgeteilte Verbreitungsgebiet liegt vorwiegend in Äthiopien und im Sudan (inklusive Südsudan). Im Süden erreicht die Art Kenia sowie Uganda und eine östliche Population kommt in Somalia vor. Das ursprüngliche Habitat der Grauen Stachelmaus sind Halbwüsten und felsige Regionen.[3] Die Art sucht gern die Nähe des Menschen und kann auf Ackerland sowie in Gärten angetroffen werden. Dieses Nagetier hält sich meist in 200 bis 500 Meter Höhe auf.[2] In Gebirgen oder auf Hochebenen wurde es auf bis 2000 Meter Höhe registriert.[3]
Die Graue Stachelmaus ist dämmerungs- oder nachtaktiv und hält sich meist auf dem Boden auf. Sie kann gut im felsigen Gelände klettern.[2] Die Nahrung besteht hauptsächlich aus Insekten.[3] Zusätzlich frisst die Art andere Wirbellose, Samen oder grüne Pflanzenteile.[2]
Laut den wenigen vorhandenen Beobachtungen erfolgt die Geburt der Jungtiere zu Beginn der Trockenzeit oder etwas später. Weibchen sind vermutlich 30 bis 35 Tage trächtig und ein Wurf besteht aus bis zu fünf Nachkommen. Diese sind bei Geburt relativ weit entwickelt mit offenen Augen. Nach etwa zwei Monaten erreichen sie die Geschlechtsreife.[2]
Für die Art liegen keine nennenswerten Bedrohungen vor. Sie wird von der IUCN als nicht gefährdet (Least Concern) gelistet.[3]

Acomys cineraceus (Heuglin, 1877) è un roditore della famiglia dei Muridi diffuso nell'Africa nord-orientale.[1][2]
Roditore di piccole dimensioni, con la lunghezza della testa e del corpo tra 89 e 116 mm, la lunghezza della coda tra 72 e 121 mm, la lunghezza del piede tra 13 e 19 mm, la lunghezza delle orecchie tra 13 e 18 mm e un peso fino a 61 g.[3]
Le parti superiori variano dal grigiastro al grigio-nerastro, con peli spinosi sulla parte anteriore della schiena, dove il colore è bruno-rossiccio, come sui fianchi e sui lati della groppa, mentre le parti ventrali sono bianche. Sulla testa sono presenti delle piccole macchie biancastre sotto ogni occhio e alla base posteriore di ogni orecchio. Le zampe sono bianche. La coda è lunga circa quanto la testa ed il corpo, scura sopra, più chiara sotto e ricoperta di corte setole. Le femmine hanno un paio di mammelle pettorali e due paia inguinali. Il cariotipo è 2n=48 o 50 FN=58 o 59.
È una specie terricola e rupestre, notturna e crepuscolare..
Si nutre di piante petrofile, lumache, insetti e loro larve, ragni e scorpioni.
Femmine gravide sono state osservate in novembre e dicembre e nella parte più meridionale dell'areale anche nella stagione umida, da maggio a giugno, il che fa presumere due stagioni riproduttive.
Questa specie è diffusa nel Sudan centrale e meridionale, Sudan del Sud, Etiopia occidentale e Gibuti.
Vive nei massicci rocciosi all'interno di savane alberate tra i 200 e 500 metri di altitudine.Talvolta è stato osservato anche nei villaggi e in edifici lungo il Nilo e nella parte più meridionale dell'areale anche in campi, savane secche e ai margini di prati e paludi.
La IUCN Red List, considerato il vasto areale e la popolazione numerosa, classifica A.cineraceus come specie a rischio minimo (LC).[1]

Gatunek ten został opisany naukowo w 1866 roku przez Fitzingera i Heuglina; należy do podrodzaju nominatywnego Acomys. Była włączana w obręb gatunku kolcomyszy skalnej (A. cahirinus), ale obecnie jest uznawana za odrębny gatunek, na podstawie m.in. odmiennego kariotypu (ma 2n = 48 lub 50 chromosomów, w porównaniu z 2n = 36 u kolcomyszy skalnej). Morfologicznie jest bardzo podobna do kolcomyszy sawannowej (A. kempi); odrębność tych gatunków nie jest pewna i wymaga dalszych badań[4].
Kolcomysz szara występuje głównie w Sudanie i Sudanie Południowym, a także w Etiopii, Kenii, Ugandzie i Dżibuti (ta lokacja wymaga weryfikacji). Jest spotykana do wysokości 2000 m n.p.m., nie występuje na wyżynach Etiopii. Na wschód od Nilu żyje jej duża populacja, po zachodniej stronie rzeki jest dużo rzadsza. Zamieszkuje tereny skaliste i półpustynne. Prowadzi naziemny tryb życia, jest owadożerna. Wydaje się, że potrafi się przystosować do środowiska zaburzonego przez ludzką aktywność[2].
Międzynarodowa Unia Ochrony Przyrody uznaje kolcomysz szarą za gatunek najmniejszej troski. Populacja jest stabilna, nie są znane zagrożenia dla gatunku. Gatunek ten może być komensalem dla człowieka, żyjąc w jego pobliżu i nie przynosząc szkód[2].

I den mjuka pälsen på ovansidan är några taggar inblandade. Denna gnagare har en svartgrå rygg, mera kanelbruna eller rödbruna kroppssidor och en vit undersida. Under varje öga och bakom varje öra förekommer en liten vit fläck. Även svansen är uppdelad i en mörkare ovansida och en vitaktig undersida. Den är täckt av korta styva hår.[6]
Denna taggmus förekommer i östra Afrika från centrala Sudan söderut till norra Uganda och norra Kenya samt österut till norra Somalia. Utbredningsområdet är delat i flera från varandra skilda populationer. I bergstrakter når arten 2000 meter över havet. Habitatet är oftast halvöknar och klippiga områden samt jordbruksmark och trädgårdar.[1]
Acomys cineraceus är vanligast i områden som ligger 200 till 500 meter över havet. Den söker ofta människans närhet. Arten är aktiv under skymningen eller under natten och den går på marken eller klättrar på klippor. Ungarna föds troligen vid början av den torra perioden eller lite senare. Honan är uppskattningsvis 30 till 35 dagar dräktig och sedan föds upp till 5 ungar per kull. Ungarna är vid födseln ganska bra utvecklade med öppna ögon. De blir efter cirka två månader könsmogna.[6]
Födan utgörs främst av insekter.[1] Som komplement äter djuret andra ryggradslösa djur samt frön och gröna växtdelar.[6]

해질녘과 밤에 주로 활동한다. 암석 지대를 잘 오르내린다. 먹이는 주로 곤충이고, 무척추동물과 식물 씨앗을 먹기도 한다.[4] 분포 지역 남단에서 11월과 12월 그리고 5월과 6월의 우기철에 임신한 암컷이 발견되고, 두 번의 번식기를 갖는 것으로 추정된다.
수단과 남수단, 에티오피아, 지부티에 널리 분포한다. 해발 200m와 500m 사이의 나무로 덮힌 사바나 지역의 암반 육괴 지역에서 서식한다. 나일강을 따라 마을과 건물에서도 관찰되고 분포 지역 남단의 평야와 건조 사바나 지역, 목초지와 습지 가장자리에서도 발견된다.
