Black stripe from snout through eye to angle of opercle; tip of 1st dorsal present; caudal spot present (Ref. 4329, 48635). Sometimes has yellow barring on sides (Ref. 48635). 2-3 tiny black spots along base of dorsal fin; greatest depth of body 2.6-3.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).

體長圓而側扁。頭大。吻長。眼大。D. VI-I,9;A. II,8。體淡紅褐至透明,腹部銀白;體側自吻端貫穿眼部至鰓蓋後緣具一黑褐色縱帶;尾柄具一與瞳孔同大之眼斑。第一背鰭前半部具黑褐色斑塊,第二背鰭具水平縱帶;餘鰭皆透明。
