Bauhinia seleriana Harms, Bull. Herb. Boiss. 7: 549. 1899
A tree, the young twigs densely tomentose, becoming glabrous. Petioles tomentose, about 2 cm. long, or shorter; leaves suborbicular, or broader than long, chartaceous, 4—7 cm. long, 2-lobed, 9-Il-nerved, glabrous above, loosely tomentose beneath, the lobes rounded, obtuse, or rarely acutish; racemes tomentose, several-many-flowered, opposite the leaves, 3-8 cm. long; pedicels 4-5 mm. long, tomentose; unopened flowers 10-11 mm. long; calyx spathaceous, densely puberulent; petals oblanceolate, short-clawed, 11-13 mm. long; stamens 10, the alternate ones shorter; ovary puberulent.
Type locality: Quen Santo, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
