Monoecious; oogonium single or 2-4 seriate, globose or depressedglobose, with basal operculum; oospore of the same form as the oogonium and filling it or nearly so; spore-wall smooth; antheridium single, hypogynous or subhypogynous or subepigynous; sperm single; vegetative cell evidently capitellate, sometimes incrusted with calcium carbonate; vegetative cell 16-22 by 20-65 /x; oogonium 32-42 by 30-36 fx; oospore 30-39 by 29-32 M ; antheridium 16-18 by 1 1-13 m-
