Catopyrops

Catopyrops is a genus of butterflies in the family Lycaenidae.^[1][2][3] The range extends from India to the Malay Archipelago and the Solomon Islands.

Catopyrops est un genre de lépidoptères (papillons) de la famille des Lycaenidae et de la sous-famille des Polyommatinae.

Taxonomie

Le genre Catopyrops a été décrit par le lépidoptériste néerlandais Lambertus Johannes Toxopeus (en) en 1929. Son espèce type est Lycaena ancyra Felder, 1860^[1].

Répartition

Les espèces du genre Euchrysops sont originaires d'Océanie et d'Asie du Sud-Est^[1].

Catopyrops er en slekt av dagsommerfugler som tilhører undergrupper blåvinger i den store familie glansvinger (Lycaenidae).

Utseende

Ganske små blåvinger (vingespenn ca. 25-30 millimeter) med korte stjerter på bakvingene. Hannens overside er ensfarget blåfiolett. Undersiden er gulbrun med tynne, hvite tverrstreker, dessuten en oransje flekk bakerst på bakvingen.

Levevis

Larvene lever på ulike busker og trær.

Utbredelse

Slekten er utbredt fra Assam i vest til Australia og Salomonøyene i øst, med flest arter på Ny-Guinea.
