Phyllonastes duellmani has a rounded snout in dorsal view and in profile. Head width equal to head length. Top of head flat, upper eyelid bearing small tubercles. Eye–nostril distance 65.2% of eye diameter, pupil is horizontally oval. Vomerine teeth and tympanum absent. Skin of dorsum pustulate, without dorsolateral folds. Skin of ventral surfaces smooth, discoidal and thoracic folds absent. Fourth finger with three phalanges and two subarticular tubercles, relative lengths of fingers I < II < IV < III. Tips of digits of fingers I and II slightly expanded, tips of digits of fingers III and IV slightly acuminate distally. Hind limbs robust; tibia length 38.5% of SVL; foot length 40.0% of SVL. Relative lengths of toes I < II < V < III < IV. Tips of digits of toes I and II slightly expanded, tips of digits of toes III, IV, and V slightly acuminate distally. Webbing absent on fore and hind limbs. Dorsum brown with tan mottling; narrow, dark brown postorbital stripe present; flanks slightly paler than dorsum with a few white spots; throat cream with brownish orange mottling; remaining ventral surfaces brown with tan mottling; groin and ventral surfaces of shanks and thighs brown with brownish orange spots. In preservative, throat appears cream with pale brown mottling, and groin and ventral surfaces of shanks and thighs appear dark brown with pale spots.Type specimen was collected by a local for M. Lundberg. Recent expeditions to the type locality have failed to find more specimens.

Distribution and Habitat

Type specimen was collected on 4 March 2002 at Cillapata, approximately 10º43´52 S, 75º42´48 W, 2900 m elevation, Distrito de Paucartambo, Provincia de Pasco, Departamento de Pasco, Peru. P. duellmani is known only from the type locality in the Selva Alta or Yungas Ecoregion. The type locality is a pasture surrounded by secondary and primary forest.

Noblella duellmani: Brief Summary

Noblella duellmani is a species of frog in the family Strabomantidae. It is endemic to Peru and only known from its type locality, Cillapata, at 2,900 m (9,500 ft) asl in the Paucartambo District, Pasco Region.
Noblella duellmani is only known from the holotype, which was collected from a seldom used or abandoned pasture, surrounded by secondary and primary forest. Later searches at the type locality and neighbouring areas have not resulted in new findings. Threats to this species that is either rare or difficult to find are unknown.
