Rattus norvegicus (Brown Rat) is a species of rodents in the family murid rodents. They are native to the Palearctic and China. They are crepuscular herbivores. Individuals can grow to 217 mm. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (female provides care and cooperative breeding). They rely on running and swimming to move around.
