1906870. Like wild cherry, bird cherry has a couple of small glands on the leaf-stalk, near the base of the leaf, but its long flower racemes (see
https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1281185 ) are quite distinctive, and its white petals have finely-toothed edges. The red pustules visible here on the leaves are galls, caused by the gall mite species Phyllocoptes eupadi (Eriophyes padi), which is specific to bird cherry. They were up to about 2 mm high, with small projecting hairs, and were narrower at the point of attachment to the leaf. They tend to appear close to the midrib of the leaf.
