Peritrich ciliate. Lorica wineglass-shaped, transparent, truncate and widest anteriorly, barely one and a half times as long as broad ; pedicle slender, three or four times the length of the hyaline sheath; body whitish. Length of lorica, without stalk, 85 micrometres. Salt water. (Description adapted from William Saville Kent, who regarded Ehrenberg's C. havniensis as an imperfectly observed specimen of the suctorian Acineta lyngbyei).
