A distinctive shell, up to 7 cm, with low spire, large body whorl and wide aperture. Spire whorls with deep sutures and moderate-sized tubercles (2-3 rows of tubercles on body whorl, most prominent on shoulder). Colour mottled orange, brown and cream; aperture white. Habitat: deep water on sand. Distribution: W Indian Ocean, Red Sea to G Oman. (Richmond, 1997).
