Peritrich ciliate in lorica 90-170 micrometres long. Body colorless, not much extended above lorica. Lorica broadly cylindrical, slightly flared at the lip, like a straight-sided vase or short test tube. Colour depends on age. In older individuals, the lorica may be brown; in younger specimens, yellow, or transparent. Freshwater on filamentous algae and plants.
