Subshrubs, erect or repent, 15-45 cm tall. Stems simple or with few branches, base woody, upper part herbaceous, sparsely powdery pilose. Petiole 1-1.5 cm, pubescent; leaf blade green, elliptic-oblong or lanceolate, 3-12 × 1-3.5 cm, thinly papery, both surfaces glabrous or sparsely adnate pilose adaxially, or densely strigose on both surfaces, midvein raised abaxially, impressed adaxially, lateral veins 6-9 pairs, raised on both surfaces, curved, anastomosing near margin, veinlets reticulate, obscure, base broadly cuneate, margin entire, ciliate, apex acuminate, mucronate. Racemes terminal, 1.5-7.5 cm, powdery pilose. Flowers dense. Pedicel 1.5-2 mm, glabrous; basal bracteole 1, caducous, ca. 2 mm. Sepals 5, caducous; outer sepals 3, unequal, small, upper one boatlike, 3-3.5 mm, apex obtuse, lateral ones oblong, ca. 1.7 mm; inner sepals 2, petaloid, obovate, ca. 6 × 3.5 mm, 7-veined, base attenuate, ungulate, apex rounded. Petals 3, connate in lower 2/3, white, rosy, or purple; lateral petals obovate-oblong, ca. 6 mm, apex obtuse; keel slightly longer than lateral petals, cucullate, 2-lamellate, apex with 2-lobed appendages. Stamens 8; filaments ca. 6 mm, lower 2/3 united, forming an open staminal sheath, and adnate with petals; anthers ovoid. Ovary globose, 1-1.5 mm in diam., narrowly winged, glabrous; style 4-5 mm, upper part curved, apex hooked; stigma at lower margin of hook. Capsule green, suborbicular, ca. 4.5 mm in diam., winged, apex incised, wing with transverse veins. Seeds black, ovoid, ca. 2 mm in diam., white pubescent; strophiole membranous. Fl. Apr-Nov, fr. Aug-Oct.
