Plants annual, to 1 m tall, glabrous. Stem erect, nearly simple. Leaves alternate, upper leaves subverticillate, subsessile; petiole to 4 cm; leaf blade greenish and shiny abaxially, dark green adaxially, lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate, ca. 13 × 4 cm, membranous, setose between teeth, lateral veins 8-11 pairs, base narrow, margin crenate-serrate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 8-20-flowered; peduncles usually overtopping leaves, slender. Pedicels fibrous, 1-2 cm, bracteate at base; bracts persistent, linear, ca. 3 mm. Flowers yellowish, purple spotted, ca. 2.5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely orbicular, curved-veined, apex acuminate or aristate. Lower sepal cup-shaped, narrowed into an incurved or involute, clavate spur; mouth tip gradually narrowed downward and long cuspidate or aristate. Upper petal orbicular, cup-shaped; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 2.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes obliquely broadly ovate, apex acute; distal lobes obliquely elliptic, ca. 2 × as long as basal lobes, apex acuminate. Filaments linear, ca. 5 mm; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule linear, ca. 2.5 cm. Fl. Aug-Sep.
