Rech. f. & Schiman Czeika l.c. reported Polygonum corrigioloides Jub. & Spach from Pakistan and cited a number of specimens under this taxon. We have examined some of these specimens such as ‘Amri-Laki’ Rechinger 28671 (W!), Makran, Panjgur, 1000 m. Rechinger 28179 (W!) and they do not belong to true P. corrigioloides as these specimens neither match with the table given by Jaub. & Spach, Ill. Pl. Or. 2: 34. t. 124. 1845 nor with the specimens from Orient (Iran, Iraq). In true P. corrigioloides the leaves are lax, alternate. Ochreae are dentate to slightly lacerate, pedicel 3-5 mm long (almost double the length of perianth), articulation is situated almost at the base of the pedicel whereas in our plants the leaves are dense, and most of the leaves are in fascicles. Ochreae are more lacerate, not dentate, pedicel smaller 1.75-2 (-2.5) mm long, not double the length of the perianth and the articulation situated almost in the middle or slightly below the middle of pedicel. It is therefore apparent that P. corrigioloides does not occur in Pakistan and the above mentioned specimens belong to P. effusum.
