Okenagana mariposa mariposa is known from Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, and Utah (U.S.A.). It has been associated with chaparral and California forests. It has been specifically associated with oak (Quercus spp.) and Sanborn & Phillips found it associated with Arizona cypress (Cupressus arizonica Greene), mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus spp.), and scrub oak (Quercus turbinella).
