Diceroprocta semicincta is known from Arizona and New Mexico (U.S.A.) and Mexico (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
This species is restricted to the Sonoran Desert, being found primarily in the Mexican Highland Section of the Basin and Range Province. Its distribution overelaps significantly with that of D. apache but D. semicincta is generally found in more elevated environments. Sanborn & Phillips (2013) report having found D. semicincta calling from mesquite (Prosopis spp.), catclaw (Acacia greggii), Emory oak (Quercus emoryi Torrey), desert willow (Chilopsis linearis), Utah juniper (Juniperus osteosperma (Torr.) Little) and creosote bush (Larrea tridentata), but it has also been associated with ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens). (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
