Distribution: SW Angola, Namibia (excluding the coastal strip and the west, where replaced by M. variegata), W Zambia, botswana, N Cape, N and Free State Provinces of South Africa, NW Zimbabwe, Mozambique south of the Save River.
Type locality: Rio Coroca, sur le littoral de Mossamedes, Angola.
