Primula prevernalis F. W. Chen & C. M. Hu

Herbs perennial, lacking basal bud scales at anthesis. Leaves numerous, subsessile, obovate-elliptic to oblong-spatulate, 3--7 X 2--3 cm, tapering to base, glabrous, minutely glandular, margin irregularly hydathode-denticulate, apex rounded. Scapes less than 5 mm; umbel solitary, 10--20-flowered; bracts linear to lanceolate, 4--6 mm, yellow farinose. Pedicel 0.5--1.5 cm, copiously bright yellow farinose. Flowers heterostylous. Calyx campanulate, 7--8 mm, minutely glandular and yellow farinose, parted to 2/3; lobes ovate to ovate-lanceolate, glandular ciliate, apex subacuminate. Corolla purple; tube 1.2--1.3 cm, puberulous around mouth; limb 1.5--2.5 cm wide; lobes broadly obovate, apex 2-cleft; lobules irregularly denticulate. Thrum flowers: stamens ca. 8 mm above base of corolla tube; style ca. 2 mm. Capsule disintegrating at maturity. Fl. Feb.
