Biennial, 20-40 (-60) cm tall; stem thick, yellowish-white, glabrous, glaucous, laxly branched in the middle. Basal leaves densely rosulate, 4-10 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, lanceolate, ± dentate, shortly stalked to subsessile, canescent with 5-7 parted, stellate hairs; cauline leaves linear-oblong, sessile, smaller, Racemes many flowered, elongated in fruit. Flowers c. 1.5 cm across, yellow; pedicels c. 6 mm long in fruit, spreading. Sepals (7-) 8-10 (-12) mm long. Petals (10-) 12-20 mm long, c. 2 mm broad. Stamens c. 5: 7 mm long; anthers c. 2 mm long. Siliquae 30-50 mm long, c. 1.5 mm broad, stellately canescent, rough; style c. 1 mm long, somewhat thickened, with short, broad, subspreading stigma lobes; septum rigid; seeds c. 1.5 mm long, oblong, angular.
