A small tree with dark-grey bark. Leaves alternate, 5-15 cm long, 2.5-6 cm broad, ovate or elliptic-oblong, slightly acuminate. sharply gland-toothed or crenate, upper surface glabrous, lower pubescent. Flowers greenish white, 2 mm long, in fascicles of 2-7, forming pubescent and 10-20 cm long drooping racemes. Sepals 1 mm long, as long as the calyx tube, linear, acute, densely pubescent, persistent. Petals c. 2.5 mm long, linear-oblong, erect, tips inflexed. Filaments 1.5 mm long, subulate; anthers 0.5 mm long, oblong, dorsifixed, exserted. Ovary oblong, bilocular; styles grooved, persistent. Capsule 4 mm long, biconical, septicidally 2-valved.
