Plants annual, 40-80 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, simple or shortly branched in upper part. Leaves alternate; petiole long, 4-5 cm; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate-lanceolate or ovate-oblong, 7-15 × 3-5 cm, membranous, with 2 globose basal glands, setose between teeth, lateral veins 7 or 8 pairs, base narrowly cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin crenate-serrate, apex caudate, acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, corymbose, 3- or 4-flowered; peduncles erect, overtopping leaves, red-purple, 5-8 cm. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, ovate, 2-3 mm. Flowers purple-violet, 3-3.5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely ovate or broadly ovate, 6-7 × ca. 5 mm, thick, abaxial midvein not thickened, 6- or 7-veined, apex cuspidate. Lower sepal broadly funnelform, ca. 1.5 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an erect spur 1.8-2 cm; mouth subvertical, 1.3-1.5 cm wide, tip acuminate. Upper petal broadly obovate, ca. 8 × 6-7 mm, abaxial midvein thickened, carinate, emarginate; lateral united petals not clawed, 1.5-1.8 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes ovate, small; distal lobes oblong-dolabriform, ca. 2 × as long as basal lobes, apex obtuse; auricle orbicular. Filaments linear, 4-5 mm; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary erect, linear, ca. 5 mm. Capsule linear, 2-2.5 cm. Seeds few, brown, oblong, ca. 2.5 mm. Fl. Sep-Oct.
